Good and Bad

Got a mail from the College. Yes I’m over qualified, but with a caveat, they’ll need to see evidence of ‘recent’ study. Not sure how that’s going to be possible 😦

Called the Student Finance too, trying to find out their email address – they don’t have one. You either call them or write to them:

Phone number 0845 300 5090
Opening hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 4.00pm
Address for paper applications and evidence Student Finance England PO Box 210 Darlington DL1 9HJ

Sorry to say the girl on the phone, although pleasant enough, was less than helpful, and could not, and would not deviate from her script: Totally confused if you didn’t provide the answers she’d been told to expect. Not a lot of use when dealing with enquiries.

Her ‘good news’ was that although I wouldn’t qualify for a Tuition Fee loan, I would get a Maintenance loan. Super! That’s just what I told her to start with, and the reason for my enquiry was because I need the Tuition Fee Loan!

It’s looking more and more like Birkbeck will be the answer for this year 😦 but even that is undecided and it’s still £4,500 tuition fee that it seems the government won’t lend me.

All still up in the air. Now I have to write to the Student Fees, get it in black and white, and hopefully reach someone that understands and can help. 😦

Even if I’m successful there, it’s looking like a year at Birkbeck or at least a year of study and some exams before re-applying to UCL.
