Displacement is a distance in a given direction

Speed is rate of change of distance. For an object that travels distance s, in time t, at a constant speed v, v = s/t

Velocity is the rate of change of displacement

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity

Equations for Uniform Acceleration:

  • v = u + at
  • s = ½(u + v)t
  • s = ut + ½at2
  • v2 = u2 + 2as

Graphs:

  • Displacement v. time: gradient = velocity
  • Velocity v. time: Gradient = acceleration, area under time = displacement
